Friday, 15 August 2025 | RACP Offices, Aotearoa New Zealand

The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Māori Health Committee are delighted to announce the annual Māori Trainee Wananga. This is an opportunity to strengthen connections, build support networks, and thrive in training.
Join us for a day dedicated to fostering whakawhanaungatanga within the Māori trainee caucus and nurturing tuakana teina relationships among trainees.
Our program is designed to empower you with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to excel on your journey in medicine and encompass a focus on:

  • Embracing connections:Engage in meaningful discussions and activities that cultivate whakawhanaungatanga within our community of Māori trainees.
  • Strengthening relationships: Explore the concept of tuakana teina relationships, where seasoned mentors (tuakana) guide and support their junior counterparts (teina) through the challenges and triumphs of training.
  • Thriving in training: Gain valuable insights and practical strategies for navigating the demands of your chosen pathway.
The wānanga is supported by RDA and STONZ. Trainees currently employed by Te Whatu Ora who are registered to attend may submit associated reasonable costs for reimbursement. If you are not employed by Te Whatu Ora, please contact the Hauora Māori Team to discuss alternative support options.
